Despite the threat of a lawsuit by private attorney Juda Epstein for slander and libel, a City Council committee Friday ordered subpoenas issued to Epstein and other officials who collect unpaid sewer use bills. This was the second time this week that the Ordinance Committee voted unanimously to exercise its power to issue the subpoenas – an unusual move no one can recall having been done in recent history.
