The beginning of the end for many of Portland's zombie homes may have begun Friday afternoon, when Mayor Charlie Hales laid out his vision of a city with a new foreclosure process and better communication between city agencies. It has been over 50 years since the city has foreclosed on an abandoned home, and, as detailed in a Portland Tribune series last month, more than 400 of the vacant properties now blight neighborhoods on the east side.
