For the first time, Atlanta apartment developers could face a mandate to offer affordable units along gentrifying parts of the Atlanta Beltline and in Westside neighborhoods such as Vine City and English Avenue. “This is one of the first steps to truly have a mandated affordable housing ordinance in neighborhoods where, if we don't do something right now, people will not be able to live in those neighborhoods within the next 10 to 15 years,” said Terri Lee , Atlanta's deputy commissioner of city planning.
