West Michigan county treasurers are touting a state-administered fund designed to bail out homeowners in danger of losing their homes or condominiums to mortgage or tax foreclosures. The Step Forward program, first created in 2010, has already paid out more than $ 307 million to 34,597 homeowners, according to the Michigan State Housing Development Authority .
