During Tuesday's Common Council meeting, Fourth Ward Councilman Steven Smith confirmed the city's application for a grant from the Local Initiatives Support Corporation on Aug. 16. The grant would see $ 13 million through its Housing Stabilization Fund given to a variety of programs including homeowner outreach, mapping and code enforcement. According to a joint press release from LISC and state Attorney General Eric Schneiderman, the funds would go toward helping communities deal with homes abandoned due to foreclosures or the threat of a foreclosure.
