Third St. in DeKalb is shown Monday, April 9, 2018 Mark Busch – mbusch@shawmedia.com DeKALB – After being in foreclosure for roughly 18 months, the Victorian-style home of Hiram Ellwood , brother of barbed wire baron Isaac Ellwood, will be up for auction Thursday and faces two possibles fates: preservation or redevelopment. The home at 329 N. Third St. , built in 1884, remained in the Ellwood family until the 1940s, when it was sold and converted into student housing.
