‘Nightmare Neighbors’ report: Dilapidated homes cost NYC $54M in depreciation
A new investigative report, “Nightmare Neighbors: How Badly Maintained Homes Damage Neighborhoods,” revealed that dilapidated homes throughout the city cost $ 54 million citywide — and $ 2.82 million on Staten Island alone — in depreciation. Senator Diane Savino and members of the Independent Democratic Conference plan to release a new investigative report on Monday that found 44 abandoned bank owned properties on Staten Island, of which, 29.5 percent had open violations.The total deprecation cost for these Staten Island homes was $ 2.8 million, according to the report.
