Officials say foreclosures are declining in Wayne County in part due to door-to-door outreach and other programs designed to help residents. The Detroit Free Press and The Detroit News report the Wayne County treasurer's office is forecasting an almost 36 percent drop from about 28,000 last year to 18,000 this year in the number of properties headed to auction for failing to pay three years of taxes.
