In 2016, there were nearly 20,000 foreclosure filings in South Carolina, which is down about 8% from 2015 and down more than 40% from the peak of foreclosures in 2010, according to a year-end report from Attom Data Solutions , the parent company of real estate data company RealtyTrac . The 19,784 foreclosure filings equate to 0.92% of all housing units in the state, which makes South Carolina the seventh highest state for foreclosure rates, the report said.
