Five San Fernando Valley residents have been charged in an alleged $ 17 million real estate scam that tricked distressed homeowners – many of them elderly – into signing fraudulent deeds on their properties, authorities said Friday. Michael Henschel, 68, of Van Nuys; Camerino Islas, 40, of North Hollywood; Claudia Islas, 42, of Reseda and Juan Velasquez, 43, of Sylmar were arrested Friday on multiple felony charges, according to the U.S. Department of Justice.
