Chris Soules, reality TV star from the 19th season of the Bachelor, 10th season of the Bachelorette, Dancing with the Stars, and Worst Cooks in America, has been arrested as a result of a fatal car accident between himself and a 66-year-old farmer, husband, and grandfather, on a tractor in the state of Iowa.

Early reports stated that Soules left the scene of the accident without contacting authorities. However, it was later discovered that he contacted 9-1-1 and even attempted to revive the other driver. However, reports confirm that he did leave the scene of the accident in the vehicle of another person, leaving behind his vehicle.

It’s a Small World

While the news of Soules being arrested for the fatal truck on tractor collision may come as a shock for those that follow celebrity news, for Soules the collision hit close to home, literally, as the victim was a neighbor whom Soules actually knew personally. The man driving the tractor, like Soules, was a fellow Iowan farmer.

The released audio from the 9-1-1 call truly depicts a devastated and distraught Soules, as does Soules’ mugshot. Currently, Soules is out of custody and on bail. He is expected back in court next week. The charges he faces are expected to be related to leaving the scene of a fatal accident. Generally, a person is not allowed to the leave the scene of an accident where an injury occurs until police arrive on the scene to make a report.

Soules Past

While accidents do occur, unfortunately for Soules, his past will be dragged up and likely used against him. While most of Soules questionable on the road legal history is over a decade old, there may be exceptions under Iowa state law that make his prior convictions for driving while intoxicated to be relevant. In most states however, and under federal evidentiary rules, convictions for most crimes that are 10 years old or more cannot be used except under specific circumstances.
