Frustrated City Council members have proposed a six month moratorium blocking City Hall's controversial efforts to collect late sewer use fees through property foreclosures. “You wanna hold us up, we'll hold you up!” Councilman Marcus Brown told two municipal lawyers Tuesday during a tension-filled ordinance committee meeting, which Brown co-chaired. Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac have imposed a moratorium suspending eviction lock-outs over the holiday, from December 19 to January 2 for Fannie properties and December 19 to January 3 for Freddie properties. Freddie Mac has announced a nationwide suspension of eviction lock-outs between December 18, 2015, and January 3, 2016. The moratorium applies to all foreclosed occupied single family homes and 2-4 unit properties that had Freddie Mac owned-or guaranteed mortgages. Foreclosure News
