The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development announced Tuesday it will begin quickly providing disaster assistance and support to West Virginians impacted by storms earlier this year. President Donald Trump issued a major disaster declaration last week for Grant, Hampshire, Hardy, Jefferson, Mineral, Morgan, and Pendleton counties, which were affected by severe storms between May 28 and June 3. HUD said the declaration allows the department to grant a 90-day moratorium on foreclosures of Federal Housing Administration-insured home mortgages, offer loan modification options, providing mortgage insurance and making insurance available for mortgages and home rehabilitation efforts.
