New London – An auction Saturday of the foreclosed Captain’s Pizza building in downtown led to mortgage holder William Cornish gaining ownership of two contiguous parcels at 8 Bank St. and 20 State St. Gregg Wagman, committee of sale for the foreclosure auction, said Monday there was only one bid on the property, which was Cornish’s in the $ 308,000 to $ 309,000 range. The amount covered what was left to pay on the mortgage after Cornish, a local real estate investor, foreclosed on former Captain’s Pizza owner Gregory A. Robinson of Waterford.
