California was neck deep in foreclosures during the peak of the housing crisis, but a new report shows the number of distressed properties has been drastically whittled down. ATTOM Data Solutions ' Year-End 2016 U.S. Foreclosure Market Report shows that California's foreclosure filings – which includes default notices, scheduled auctions and bank repossessions – topped out at 78,646 in 2016.
