Kendall and Kylie Jenner’s PacSun t-shirts were removed from stores this week and a lawsuit with Island Company has been settled, according to the Daily Mail. The famous fashionable sisters “created” a t-shirt for PacSun with an inspiring slogan that seems to be a truncated version of a campaign popularized by the Island Company already.

Resort clothing brand Island Company sued the sisters, arguing that their t-shirts would dilute the Island Company brand and cause confusion. The brand is said to be popular with Johnny Depp, Brad Pitt, and Cameron Diaz. PacSun removed the shirts from stores but there was no word from the company or the sisters on the intellectual property dispute or the settlement.

Sloganeering

The Island Company , in business since 2002 and making the t-shirt in question in the lawsuit since 2005, trademarked their commercial poetry. Their t-shirts that read, “Quit your job. Buy a ticket. Get a tan. Fall in love. Never return.”

Meanwhile, the Jenner sister t-shirts for PacSun state, “Run away. Fall in love. Never return.”

So the only difference between their shirt and the original is that there is no job to quit and no plane ticket to buy. Maybe not so surprising for these super sisters who grew up on ‘Keeping Up With the Kardashians.’

Hard at Work?

The Jenners never mention quitting a job or buying a ticket on their t-shirts because they probably don’t ever do dull jobs or book their own flights and it never even occurred to them. But they do work, and Kendall’s modeling career in particular is very successful.

She models for Chanel regularly, has an advertising campaign with Estee Lauder, and appeared for Balmain’s collection for H&M (showing that she gets that regular folks need fashion too, not just the rich). Kendall is expected to release a clothing line with her fashion model best bud Cara Delevingne in the near future.
