Senate Judiciary Committee approves Gorsuch nomination; Democrats have enough votes for filibuster

Updated: The Senate Judiciary Committee has approved and sent to the Senate the nomination of Judge Neil Gorsuch to the U.S. Supreme Court. The Republican-dominated committee had been expected to recommend confirmation, report the New York Times, the Wall Street Journal (sub. req.), USA Today and the Washington Post.
