A total of cases 282 were started in March in the office of Carbon County Prothonotary Joann M. Behrens, according to a monthly statistical report released by the officeholder. A breakdown of cases is as follows: Civil actions, 34; custody complaints, 37; complaints to modify custody, 18; district justice appeals, 4; divorce complaints, 23; complaints in ejectment, 2; license appeal, 1; mortgage foreclosure complaints, 25; name change petitions, 3; protection from abuse petitions, 30; judgments, 62; stipulations/ waivers of liens, 6; and writs of executions, 37. The office also processed 183 passport applications and provided assistance to the public in passport renewal 42 times.
