Milwaukee has sold 501 tax-foreclosed houses and commercial buildings so far this year, a record high number of properties returned to the tax roll since a nationwide real estate recession in 2007 was followed by a foreclosure crisis in 2008, city officials said. Single-family homes and duplexes accounted for 480 of the sales, while 21 others were commercial buildings, including apartment buildings, a restaurant and one church, records show.
